This year, the Milwaukee Air & Water Show took place on July 21-22nd. The United States Navy Blue Angels with Fat Albert headlined the event, along with performances by the F16 Viper Demonstration Team, P51 heritage flight, P8 Poseidon, AH-64 Apache, MH-65 Dolphin, SH-60 Seahawk, CH-53 Sea Stallion, and the Wisconsin Air National Guard KC-135.
Unfortunately, I wasn't able to be at the beach to attend the show, but I was on the ramp at MKE on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday. Thursday took us to the 128th Air Refueling Wing for media day. We had our briefing, had a brief meet with the Blue Angels, and went out to the Super Hornets for interviews. The F16 Demo Team also arrived and set up for the weekend.
Friday night featured the Air Refueling Wing Open House. We had the chance to tour the SH-60, P8 Poseidon, and KC135, and we were able to walk right up to the Vipers, Apaches, Fat Albert, and Stallion.
Saturday was especially exciting as we were about 200 feet away from the runway, which provided some gorgeous photo opportunities. We also witnessed Fat Albert's low-transition takeoff. This show is always a must-attend event year after year.
